Expansion is clearly on the near horizon for The Madera Group, which plans to open 11 locations in the U.S. and abroadby the end of 2019.
The Los Angeles-based hospitality company is funding the expansion of is modern organic mexican concept, Tocaya Organica, through a $20.85 million capital investment received last fall from Breakwater Management LP, according to a press release.
Tocaya Organica currently has 10 Tocava Toca locations and one Toca Madera in operation, according to the release.
The planned 11 locations will include four venues in Arizona, three of which will be Tocava Organica restaurants located at Phoenix Esplanade (2525 E. Camelback Road), Union Tempe (110 E. University Drive), and Scottsdale Fashion Square (7014 E Camelback Road). The fourth will be the company's second Toca Madera, and is slated to open at Scottsdale Fashion Square in fall 2019.
This will bring TMG to five venues in Arizona by year-end, including the Kierland Commons Tocaya Organica that opened in 2018, according to the release.
In addition, TMG plans to open six Tocaya Organica locations in Southern California, including Westfield UTC (4301 La Jolla Village Drive, #2003) and Westwood (1140 Gayley Ave.), both in Q1, as well as Downtown Los Angeles at Atelier (801 S. Olive Street), Toluca Lake (4301 W. Riverside Drive), Del Mar at One Paseo (3725 Paseo Place), and Long Beach (2nd and Pacific Coast Highway).
"We are thrilled to be expanding our footprint in Arizona and in Southern California," TMG CEO and co-founder Tosh Berman said in the release. "Our company has roots in both regions and we are excited to continue our growth and bring our mission for better eating to an even wider audience."
On the international front, TMG plans to open its first overseas location this year, with the debut of a Toca Madera in Dubai.
